Cockatrice

Physiology

The Cockatrice is a small lizard with the head, neck, and chest of a roosterand wings of a bat.

History

There aren't any exact origins of this creature, though most legends are found in Europe. The breath of this animal will break stone and the glance will kill instantly. The best way to slay them is to show them their own reflection. Same method works for slaying its counterpart, the basilisk, as well. The only way to reproduce these "dragons" is to hatch from an egg of a seven-year-old rooster while incubated by a toad in dung when the dogstar, Sirius, in visible.
