Daniel, the Prophet
|
|
In centuries past, people loved to tell the tale of how the Hebrew prophet, Daniel, bested a dragon. Although he was of a different religion, Daniel was once
a trusted confidant to Astyages; the king of Babylon. To Daniel's dismay, the people of Babylon (in their ignorance) worshipped a dragon at that time. To put an end
to this evil idolatry, Daniel told King Astyages that he would not only slay the dragon, but slay it without sword or staff. Astyages agreed so Daniel got to work. He
boiled pitch, fat, and hair together and formed them in the shape of small balls. He then forced these down the throat of the dragon where they exploded on impact
with the heat in the dragon's stomach. The dragon then exploded and pieces of it's corpse flew everywhere. The people of babylon helped Daniel clean up the mess
and went back to living their own lives.
